This intellectual output presents a European Framework for Integration of Digital cultural heritage in compulsory secondary education in Europe. It aims to help Member States in their efforts to promote the reuse of cultural heritage digital resources in mainstream education. This has been frequently reported as an identified need lacking, in terms of cultural heritage education. The aim of the intellectual output is to provide a guide in the form of a manual, with specifications of the Pedagogical Framework, including cultural competences required by educators to teach in an inclusive manner. The framework is intended to support national, regional and local efforts in fostering digital cultural heritage in compulsory education, focusing on inclusive digital learning, by offering a common frame of reference, with a common language and logic.

O1 will produce a European framework for integration of digital cultural heritage in compulsory secondary education, based on inclusive and interdisciplinary, digitally mediated and multimodal, co-creative approaches to teaching and learning. This will address and offer a concrete solution to a gap in cultural heritage education in Europe. The CHERISHED Framework (O1) is in complete alignment with the DigiCompEdu Framework, as the intention is to incorporate the six areas of Professional Engagement, Digital Resources, Teaching and Learning, Assessment, Empowering Learners, Facilitating Learners’ Digital Competence. The key pillars to consider are: digital cultural transformation, digital cultural maturity, digital cultural literacy and digital cultural competences.
