On the 18th of April of 2023 we celebrate the official International Day for Monuments and Sites (IDMS), also known as the World Heritage Day! The yearly celebration was established in 1982 to raise awareness of the importance of preserving and protecting cultural heritage. Each year the celebration takes place under a different theme, this year the theme is “Heritage Changes». It aims to raise awareness about the impact of climate change on cultural heritage sites and landscapes and promotes climate action through the safeguarding of heritage from impacts of the climate crisis. Through various events organised for the “World Heritage Day” these important topics are discussed in public.

In order to also include cultural heritage into compulsory education, the project CHERISHED aims to support school educators in their work to integrate digital cultural heritage into their curriculum. If you want to know more about the Pedagogical Framework that CHERISHED developed for the integration of digital cultural heritage in secondary education, check our website regularly.
